Economic history of Islam, as of my understanding goes,does not confine to the contribution of Muslim economists, but, it needs to be placed in the larger cultural and political contexts in which the islamic principles and practices are followed. Islam and capitalism, Islam and entrepreneurship, muslim business communities in different parts of the world, their world view, their negociation with the global and local etc, too need to be incorporated in the area of ‘Economic History’
